Although Jim Crews founded Main Street Technology in March, 2002, he brings to the firm over 15 years of technnology, marketing, management, and strategy experience. Following are a few examples of his experience in several areas, but by know means comprise his entire career. If you'd like an example of MST's or its partners' experience specific to your situation, please send email to jim@mstweb.com.

STRATEGY
Sybase, one of the world's largest makers of large-scale database software, hired Jim to complete two consecutive business strategy studies on emerging technologies. First, he created a comprehensive business plan including business models, competitive outlook, and pricing analysis for Media.Splash, Sybase's authoring tool for developing data-driven, multimedia web sites. Next, he developed a detailed market analysis for the company's interactive television technology, focusing on the RBOC, cable, and corporate segments, while assessing potential threats from direct and indirect ITV competitors.

PRODUCT MANAGEMENT AND MARKETING
Jim served in a range of product management roles for over seven years, including Director-level roles. The products he managed incuded the world's largest online database of venture capital information, VentureSource, for which he managed the complete overhaul of the application, executed direct-marketing campaigns to increase the subscriber base, and increased revenues by implementing a 9% price increase without losing any customers. Jim also directed all aspects of Acteva, Inc.'s online offering, which allowed event organizers to take online payments for reservations, registrations, or tickets in return for a transaction-based service fee. During his time at Acteva, Jim hired and managed a 5-person team of producers to completely redesign all features and functions of the service and increased transaction-based revenues 14% while maintaining customer growth by replacing a very complex pricing structure with a simple percentage-based pricing system. Despite the burst of the dot.com bubble, Jim is proud that both products remain highly successful in today's market.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
In addition to directing product development efforts for two successful firms, VentureOne and Acteva, Jim also designed, prototyped, and directed the development of the world's first interactive recreational fishing map server for Boulder-based Outdoor Intelligence, LLC. The application was designed to be installed within major web sites with only a few lines of code, and continues to enjoy tremendous success on both the ESPN Outdoors and BASS web sites. (Outdoor Intelligence has since merged with another firm, although the application has not changed since it was under Jim's direction).
